There have been quite a few PL lines like that, I wonder why they do not use the semi automated system? Why is it always the "big clubs" who seem to benefit from dodgy VAR decisions?

The Premier League is going to semi-automated offside but it's not coming in until later in this season.

the commentator actually says the line drawn is showing "the line of the ball", so I assume it's being used to indicate the person receiving the pass was not level/behind the player playing the ball, rather than being used to indicate offside

I'm not entirely sure of the details but I believe it has something to do with the PL moving away from Hawk-eye.
