Curious to know what clauses the Broja obligation includes outside of staying up? Eg. Appearance levels / Goal totals.

£30m could be a great price in 12 months, but it’s also not inconceivable that he’s third choice, given Delap’s ability to stretch with pace and how in-tune Hirst is to McKenna’s tactics.

I’m curious in all of these transfers as to what level of risk we’ve had to accept to get such eye-catching deals done. At least 15 starts? Or at least 5 goals?

Could well be none.

Think of it as buying him for £30m now, not paying for 12 months and if we go down we can send him back/back out.

Obviously there is a loan fee and what have you, but it is a pretty good deal I’d say.

Large loan fees taking significant wages in the fee. They are one off costs set against the cost of losing the relegation battle. They have upside because hopefully the players perform and are vested in helping secure their future by keeping us up and gaining financially on the next contract with us next year. I don’t think we’ve paid off market prices for anyone, this is the market we are in now, attracting clubs to sell and players to come to a newly promoted club. The players we’ve brought outright all have potential upside having spent a year in the PL with us, irrespective of the final outcome.

£30m sounds a lot - but presumably his wages for this year are factored into that so perhaps no more than £25m. It’s like us getting him for free for a year - unless I’m missing something.

Personally I like the idea of loan with an obligation to buy if we stay up. I mean, presumably we’re not going to be spending as much next season (if we stay up!)

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

Staying up is the main one from what I’ve heard. Normally he has to be in bed by 9, but after a win he’s allowed to stay up until 10.30.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
