Happy world sepsis day to all who celebrate. 13:35 - Sep 13 with 1102 viewsBlueBadger

In the UK, sepsis is assciated with a death roughly every 11 minutes and is very easily treated if caught early.
Know your signs and symptoms people. And don't sleep on them.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Killed my dear mum although there was no way of stopping it due to other health issues. It's mad that not many people realise it can happen just by not treating an infected cut/throat etc. Definitely needs more awareness

Yes, it killed a member of my family too.

Thanks to BB for the annual awareness post because it needs to be treated as an emergency.

Nearly killed a friend of mine a few months ago, an otherwise reasonably healthy guy aged around 40. Bladder infection got out of hand.

Pretty much the same thing happened to my mother a year ago, but it killed her. Most likely started with a UTI caused by catheter problems.

Do not ignore infections!

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Sorry to hear about your mum.

Thank you, was 17 years ago when I was just a lad but I have a successful experience with a grief counsellor thankfully

Thank you BB for highlighting this! And my sympathies to everyone who has lost a loved one through sepsis.

Last month a cousin in law succumbed to sepsis very soon after a hip operation, she was in her 70's with underlying medical conditions. A massive shock to the entire family.

As BB says we need to raise awareness and understanding of the signs and symptoms to ensure it is treated quickly.
