On a related personal note, Thurrock Museum are featuring my Uncle's Peter's story in an exhibition at present, and also those of my Aunt Esme and Uncle Arthur.
Sergeant Peter Desmond Hockley, 20, a wireless operator in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, lost his life on November 18th 1944 when their Halifax collided with another Halifax at Camblesforth, near Selby in Yorkshire, as they prepared to land, resulting in the deaths of all 14 crew members of both planes.

I see the family resemblance there. Except he appears to have a bit of hair.
