73 Years ago today Town played Norwich at midday away in the league. The home match had been played at midday the day before. Dont ask for the scores.
But that at least was the way to look after supporters.

61 Years ago today Town played Fulham.
All the players had spent a great time the previous day with Mr Cobbold. We lost 10-1.
They dont make owners like that any more.

My pal saw Man City v Plymouth on Christmas Day in 1946 ( he was 6) and both teams got the same train down to Plymouth for the reverse fixture on Boxing Day.

More remarkably is apart from one change (Danny Hogan for Ted Phillips), both teams filled exactly the same sides for both games.

On the subject of Ted Phillips, he only played two more games for us after that 10-1 defeat at Fulham. Both coming in the same week in Febuary less than two months afterwards. Sad end to his wonderful Ipswich career truth be told
