The best thing to come out of Nigeria 08:10 - Jun 30 with 439 viewsbluelagos

Apart from Finidi obviously - is frozen yoghurt.

Lads in go-slows would sell frozen yoghurt - in cartons - mindblowingly nice on a hot day.

So I decided to try and make some over the weekend - simple as puree some fruit (I did pineapple) - mix it into a plain yoghurt - and freeeze it.

Popped it out the freezer yesterday and as it melts - it makes the perfect cooling treat on a hot day.

You can thank me later.

I thought Fela, Femi and Seun might get a mention, and Chinua Acheba, Wole Soyinka and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

I've met three of them :-)

Sadly Seun is a gooner, Wole a proper wise old gentleman, and Femi was off his tits so will reserve judgement!

After 3 months in Nigeria a number of years ago I think for me it is suya or however it is spelt. The beef strips with the spices on. Kept me almost sane there.

Yeah, many a night would stop at a Suya spot on the way home from a pub. I tried to make it once at a bbq (-in UK) and failed miserably.

Jollof much missed too.

My old boss used to hang out with him so met him a few times. Was incredibly insightful on many topics, really humble too considering his fame.

Did you know he and Fela were cousins? (So I was told)
