Yes. A lot of those fouls were not during attacking moves or in threatening areas of the pitch, hence the reason the ref did not punish them more severely, with yellows, but Southampton knew what they were doing - stopping us from gaining any momentum. It worked to a large extent! |  | | |

The Matusiwa yellow was for a shirt pull. It was a strict interpretation of the rule to give a yellow card. Armstrong didn't need to go down but felt the shirt being pulled and did so. He and Downes were very fortunate not to be carded as was Wellington shortly before he did get his.
Taylor's booking was for the dissent that followed the foul being given rather than for the foul itself. |  |
