ITFC - building a football club… 15:00 - Aug 24 with 724 views | itfcsuth | We will be fine, even if the early periods may be frustrating whilst we bed a new group together - that’s the process we are going through. We don’t look far away already, 3 games into the season, lots of good bits, lots of bits to work on. It’s a build, the B2B was the foundation of the football clubs future, but now we are building the house, and it will take a little bit of time, but when she’s complete, she will be absolutely beautiful. KMc remains absolutely untouchable, one of the very best & brightest young coaches in the world. COYFB.

The problem is, we paid a fortune for foundations that we never built.., those foundations were very expensive, laid down, and then ripped up 12 months later because they were so poor. We are back to laying foundations…, only it terms out the forman on the project that was a big success, not only had left, but was far more important than the gaffer. The gaffer likes everything to be higher risk and more complex, because he like that challenge. The Forman…, dear god.., he got the basics absolutely, beautifully, PERFECT. That’s how you build a house. We can’t even get the footings in now…, because McKenna can’t do that job…, he’s the architect, wants the fancy bits that have complexity, he took the basics that others did for granted.., and there was never any plans or vision, just relented architect who didn’t realise how important the foundations actually were. There’s a lot more pain to come.., and I of there isn’t.., it’s only deferred - this isn’t a simple fix.., it’s what happens when just 2 people do everything and you never understood what did and didn’t work.., just that (briefly) the alchemy was just right. And it was. It’s like a beautiful meal…, with zero seasoning. A mess. And the chef doesn’t even know what seasoning is, let alone how to use it..,, he still can’t understand why his great meal tastes woeful.

I like this part of what they say: It's a process rather than an endless list of success.

Burnley got 15 new players last summer and we’ve now lost 50% the amount of games they did for their entire campaign and if it wasn’t for an injury time penalty, we would have equaled it in 3 games. The biggest issue is, are we buying players that fit KMs system? This nod to almost some kind of rebuild isn’t going to cut it in the champ with our financial clout tbh.

In fairness they also lost their 3rd league match and their first two games/wins were against 2 teams that got relegated in the end, not sure Birmingham or Southampton will be going down! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yep early days but I do think this kind of rebuild stuff is a bit ridiculous, only one of our starting 11 was signed this summer and we’ve kept 90-100M worth of the players we purchased last off season. [Post edited 24 Aug 19:51]

It is a new group, just silly to say it isn’t. Only 6 players remain from our group in the championship last time around, 2 more currently have long term injuries. In the summer members, Morsy, Burgess, Mass, Omari, Broadhead, Tuanzebe, Delap, Enciso, Phillips and Muric all departed. Naturally we have had to add to the group, along with returning long term injuries who hardly featured last time out in Ogbene, Szmodics, Philogene.

Muric also departed, and permanent signings from the PL in Szmodics, Philogene and Ogbene had a season suffering injuries really.

The record of 12 months has been a poor one, albeit with an incredibly difficult step up in divisions, and the money spent in some areas has been poor - KMc and MA will know that themselves, nobody is arguing against that. I know it’s a game of opinions, but the level of ignorance in your post isn’t even absolutely mind blowing.
