Anyways. Onto the real stuff.
Question
Why the greaves hate tonight. Seeing some posts saying he cost us another goal..
Now. I was one who said he was involved in the first 3 goals conceded of the season.
Today he got sent off. When you look at it again it's actually unfortunate. Without the slip he's got a chance of winning the battle. A red of course that's the rules. But after the red it was 0-0
Furlong the hero of the last game was the one who conceded the penalty so i don't see how that's on greaves when he wasn't even on the pitch.
Also the performance upto that red card and even after tbh it was a tough battle but one I still felt we were going to win. After their goal we were down their throats and ghen the game stopped
Prior to the red. It was an equal game however we had chances as did blackburn.
Think it would do many people well to remember how many goals we scored later on in games but also how many games we actually conceded first in when we won promotion. Apart from 2 games imo we didn't outplay anyone when we got promoted but we managed to get wins. A big part of this was our finishes and we started to see their effects when they came on today and I have no doubt we would have scored and maybe even gone onto win today.
I still stand my mcateer that I dont quite know how he's seen as an improvement on ogbene. But it's still early so will continue to wait to see how he progresses.
Anyways.
Horrid conditions. Not ones that suit our style. But all in all we were fine imo.

I don't recall how he arrived at his compromised position but Greaves wasn't unfortunate to be sent off. He made the poor choice to foul the striker near the halfway line, when conditions would have made scoring from there a difficult task. He's had a real rick in him most games sadly, while also doing plenty of good stuff. Someone likened his performances to Muric's and that feels fair. I didn't hate Muric mind and I hope Greaves may recover without hostility in the stands, which would be tragic.
Obvs a red isn't a goal, so difficult to explain how that confusion's arisen if it has. |  | | |

You've described his sending off completely wrong, have you not seen it?
He's turned as has the striker, he's then slipped and as he was falling grabbed the player, sending off absolutely, but he stopped a most likely goal as he was falling to the ground, and the blackburn player then had a free run on goal, not sure why you feel scoring from there a difficult task. | |

I watched it live and didn't see him slip into the player. I saw him realise he's the wrong side, put his arms over the fella and make an obvious foul, bringing himself and the striker down. It was a bouncing ball on a difficult pitch, a long way from goal, a defender breathing down the striker's neck - those are often not scored at this level. I would have much preferred he try to recover his position and if not apply lawful pressure on the striker. | | | |

And we created a lot more chances than we gave up over the course of the season, hence a GD of +35 and xGD of +27. [Post edited 20 Sep 22:44]
