Football the great distractor. 11:34 - Dec 9 with 873 viewsTheBoyBlue

I recently got made redundant which I have to admit is a pretty stressful situation, but I so enjoyed the Coventry match that I allowed myself to forget about jobhunting over the weekend. When I saw someone on Sunday who asked if it was unexpected, I instinctively replied that I thought we could beat them, but wasn't expecting it to be 3-0. "No, I meant your redundancy" they replied...

Hoping for more distraction tomorrow night.

Bosses are like referees - they don't know what they're doing, they don't know what they're doing!

Enjoy tomorrow night's distraction and best of luck on the job front.

Like many, I’ve been in your situation and other difficult stuff and football is a great distraction. Just throw yourself into it and regardless of how good or awful we are. I found it helped me.

Redundancy? It’s their loss and an opportunity for you. It won’t feel like that necessarily, but it is. Good luck with the job hunting and be disciplined, keep going with it and, to use an Ashton cliche, be relentless. After all, redundancy, job search, rejection, learning, interviews, acceptance - none of it is personal - it’s a game you have to win once.

Good luck and enjoy the game!

No matter what has been going on in my life, ups (births), downs (deaths and yes redundancy) there is always Portman Road.
Unchanging and unchangable.
The same as it was last time, the same as it will be next time. A home from home.

The one solid point in life.

As others have said I've been there myself and it's without doubt a stressful time. I wish you all the best with the Job hunt and hopefully something will come up sooner rather than later

In the meantime hopefully Ipswich will continue with the good performances/results and provide a welcome distraction

Great to see such a positive attitude. It's so important for mental wellbeing, at stressful times, to seek out and appreciate moments that bring you joy.

I'm sure you will find something soon. I've been there a few times, not knowing where the next paycheck is coming from, but you always find a way to muddle through.

All the best!
