Was yesterday as bad as the forum suggests? 10:51 - Jan 25 with 513 viewstonybied

I was working yesterday so didn't get to watch the match. I've just watched the highlights on Sky, and it looks like a fairly even match, we seemed to have a few good chances ourselves. After reading the comments on here last night I was expecting it to just be a reel of Sheffield United chances. I do also understand TV highlights don't always show a true reflection of a game, so wanted some clarification from heads that have probably calmed a bit now.

Yes, some of that defending was not great for their goals, but the team has been so stern defensively for the last few months, that surely, we can let them off for a bad day at the office, or was it really that bad?

We struggled to put anything together. It was a frustrating game which as DOS said played into Sheff U’s hands. I think the frustration probably stems from how many times we have seen similar performances away from home, and when going a goal behind. We never really looked like getting back into the game in the second half

Yup, was pretty even in general play and we had as many good chances as them if not a few more, with their keeper in contention for man of the match.

That isn’t to say we played well because we definitely didn’t, with no individual coming out of it particularly well. I think had we have got that first goal from the Clarke or Walle Egeli chances inside the first 10 minutes we might have seen a different outcome.

A disappointing performance after so many good ones on the spin and really just cemented the need for something different in midfield and upfront. We also missed Nunez giving us a bit of quality and control in the final third (although Mehmeti added a bit of that when he came on).
