You can't fault the ambition 06:19 - Aug 18 with 1238 viewsLegendofthePhoenix

ITFC ownership really showing their ambition now.
If we get Embolo and Palacios, that really does look like a Premier League squad that has the quality to win plenty of games. GC20 clearly are determined to not just give it a bit of a go, they are looking to thrive and establish the club in this league. And Gary O'Neil is winning me over, he seems very positive, very open - doesn't hold his cards as close to his chest as KMcK - and there seems to be a lot of joy in the squad, way more than this time last season. It's very exciting and we are gonna have an amazing atmosphere on Saturday.

How are you measuring the ‘joy’ within the current squad and what was the joy level under KMc??

This time last year, we'd been relegated with a dismal last 5 months in the PL. We were losing players, some refusing to play to facilitate transfers, couldn't bring in new players until the end of the window. Do I need to go on? But you only need to look at the joy on the faces of the players and the body language at the training sessions and the warm up fixtures to tell.

The fact all these players want to come to us when they have numerous other options speaks volumes.

While I don't necessarily disagree, what we see on social media is less than 1% of what is happening in training and is carefully managed by the club.

Likewise, pre-season selection can be managed to exclude those not toeing the party line to then have the squad appear more harmonious.

Having said that, there is a positive feel around the club and heightened anticipation among supporters, which would be expected following promotion vs relegation, but without doubt the nature of our transfer business has further increased hopes.

Personally can't wait for Saturday now - seems like an age since the promotion party vs QPR.

Actually it’s a light meter that measures how much light is reflected from GON’s pearly whites, which directly correlates to his joy level.

Everyone is optimistic in August. Then some players find out they're not in the team, a few early defeats & the mood can change. Keeping a positive mentality across the whole squad is a huge part of a modern manager's job.
