Have social media, echo chambers, client media & confirmation bias won? 11:57 - Sep 10 with 992 viewsunstableblue

The algorithms have put everyone into tribes.

Nuance, facts and science are the losers.

We effectively have a party that can win seats in our parliament despite being morally bankrupt and incompetent at running local councils. Yet GB News and flag hugging lunatics, give them credence. We have a dodgy far right coke head supported by a trillionaire ketamine psychopath, organising hate marches that are supported by the opposition party.

We have an orange man baby narcissist who is destroying the US government and judiciary, denying science, benefitting from corruption on an unprecedented scale, going against every promise made, and yet will still hold the House of Representatives.

We have a conflict in Palestine where many forget the atrocities of Hamas, or those who turn a blind eye to ongoing ethnic cleansing.

All the while we allow AI development to run unchecked to fuel an economic bubble and with risks of a major autonomous cyber attack growing, whilst all the while whistling as the earth burns.

The algorithms and client journalism have wreaked havoc. People need to wake up as a Trumpian populist takeover of Europe is growing - and that is a pro (unchecked) AI and fossil fuels future.

May I end by quoting Richard Tice of Reform and Donald Trump:
“When it's a bit warm, let's enjoy it. And if it means that English wine and sparkling wine gets better and better, fantastic. That means we can take on the French”

“If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000. We don't want you going to Canada to spend the money,"

Rant over. Enjoy your day.

I think you're bang on.

I also think we won't wake up until it's far too late, and that that point is close at hand.

We have totally lost touch with the realities of being a social animal and a component of life on Earth, and we will pay the price.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

All of the above. And added to that, people are less inclined to question anything, preferring instead to treat life/politics as sport and blindly stick to their team/view. The rise of social media and the death of robust journalism - actual digging, boots on the ground journalism - will be the death of us.

Illy, this is such a timely commentary from the director of the new marathon Musk film:

On this note, the amount of Telegraph, GB News, Mail etc that gets promoted in the feed on facebook is crazy. No matter how many times I click the little x and say I don't like creator I still get more.

I can feel my days on that site ending in the not too distant future if it keeps going like this.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Dubster, I’m afraid to report GB News’ viewing figures have grown significantly, and in certain metrics are higher than BBC News and Sky News (albeit these are the dedicated channels)

And we wonder why so many people are voting for and supporting these incompetent candidates, and supporting these extreme groups. It’s like a mini Fox News unfolding before us, and some weird MAGA lite!
