I fancy having a smoker 08:27 - May 3 with 3861 viewswkj

One thing I genuinely miss from my travels is a Saturday afternoon tending BBQ pit and smoking some brisket (or other such delights) while chugging back the tins (or bottles in the US mostly)

Has anyone bought a smoker they can recommend? I ask on here as a lot of amazon reviews are mixed opinions and, i never can tell if the reviews are seeded by the sellers.

I thought you meant you liked hearing a nasty cough in the mornings.

If you want a dedicated smoker (that can smoke hot or cold) then a pellet smoker is best, just set it and forget it.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Camp-Chef-Woodwind-Pellet-Grill/dp/B071DQB6Q4

Offset smokers are similar but require a little more tending, some say the results are better but you need to know what you're doing and you really shouldn't buy a cheap one; they are 100% bobbins.

If room or cost is a concern, then the Weber Smoky Mountain is great little unit, for around £300 quid. https://www.weber.com/GB/en/barbecues/charcoal-barbecues/smokey-mountain-cooker-

Finally a lot of people are talking about these things and have been able to do amazing smoking on them https://www.pitbarrelcooker.com/
They're basically a version of the simple ugly drum smoker which are reasonably easy to build if you know what you're doing...they're around the same price of a WSM but fits a lot more in. If you did fancy building one tho - http://www.smokerplans.net/

Personally I don't have a lot of room in my garden so I'm going for a Weber Kettle with one of these https://abcbarbecue.com/product/slow-n-sear/ which makes a simple £150 kettle into something that can smoke a brisket easily over 15 hours.

Getting a good thermometer is essential btw, the ones in the lid don't work. I've got this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Maverick-Range-Digital-Wireless-Thermometer/dp/B00FOCR4

Well you'll have to put more effort into it than that if you want this jelly.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

I will check a fishing forum I belong to as smokers have been discussed on several threads.

I fancy having a smoke now. Not had one for years. Thanks a lot. You made me addicted again.

Top man. I'm gonna be trying a 65 quid one round a mates house from Aldi of all places as he swears blind that it's good for the money. Failing that I'll be getting the one you linked most likely. If I get good at this I will be having a Kansas style pit bbw over the summer should anyone be in the laxfield area with a taste for beef brisket and pork shoulders

Is what my mate has, swears blind its a cracker as long as you keep it out of the rain.

Gonna have a go at smoking a 2kg pork butt and bratwursts on the weekend (for sliced pork, not pulled) so should be a good 5 hours of feeling like a manly man
