For a World Cup though there should be more teams, given the aims of the ICC to expand cricket, two 7 team groups then knockout has worked well before, with the best teams getting to the knockout stages.

You certainly can’t rule out the self destruct button with Pakistan, but this is the brilliant thing about them they are a box of all sorts, you just don’t know which team will turn up! The Aussies were 185-1 off 30 overs, so 360+ was on the cards and then Pakistan just flicked the switch and the Aussies collapsed. | |

Completely disagree. I want to watch the best teams play each other and that’s the 10 that are involved in this tournament. When we’ve had the group stages in the past there have been some really one sided games, not even contests. | |
