With reports that up to 10 Championship sides are in danger of suffering a points deduction suppose it is a good time to be relegated as the prospect of gaining promotion next season will be enhanced

Surely that isn’t possible? To play nine rounds of fixtures by the end of June?

They should sack this season off and start again when they can.

That’s the idea, they won’t. Probably only 4 rounds.

Whilst obviously this specific pandemic could never have been predicted, the PL and FL have rather got themselves into a mess here by not foreseeing a scenario where the league could not be completed for one reason or another and accounting for it in the rules

An F1-type rule would have made things a whole lot easier on the legal side - eg. If unable to complete all fixtures by 1st July:
- more than 75% of fixtures complete then season considered complete based on ppg
- less than 75% complete null and void

It wouldn’t be perfect and undoubtedly some teams would benefit whilst others would lose out, but at least it would be in line with the rules of the competition

Just enough for Liverpool to confirm as Champions?

The tricky bit is going to be the European places and the struggle from Brighton down to Villa to avoid the other two relegation spots.

Villa are the biggest problem currently

Any scenario of ending the season early means some teams will benefit from playing a different fixture list anyway,, however as it stands right now Villa have a game in hand from which a win would move them out of the relegation zone. Declaring the season as complete now would mean they were effectively relegated as a result of a reaching the League Cup final

The FA have caused problems for Premier League and EFL by extending the season. Had they not done so then the season would have ended on 1st June.
