This could be a genuinely major discovery.

Rather than existing plans of trying to wipe out the mosquitoes - with all the damage that will do to food chains and ecosystems (including the insecticides likely to be used) - this would appear to enable them to infect the insects with a microbe which blocks the malaria parasite.

Game changer.
