Great to see the boys in blue decdicate significant resources to identifying those responsible. CPS must have indictaed likely prosecutions lie ahead too.

Pritti will be pleased.

Bizaarre.

The article showed the police cctv pics of 15 people wanted with regards to the statue toppling. Also stated the CPS had been consulted (hence my assertion that prosecutions were likely to follow)

Complete waste of time imho. The guys will get minimal fines and am struggling to see how it is in the public interest. Although I suppose it would act as a deterant to others seeking to topple statues would be the argument.

Edit, google shows the story was first done 8 days ago and the Guardian redid the same story then removed it.

As Lagos says, as a deterrent to others. If you let one statue go for a swim during the pandemic everyone will be off down to the beach before you know it...

Given having a piss near a memorial plaque gets you 2 weeks in jail, I want to know what are they going to do with the bloke who stopped and shat by the side of his car?

No 2s clearly worse than No 1s, but the location not as outrageous to public decency. Truly is a minefield.

Thankfully we have a home secretary who takes on the responsibiity of influencing police decisions in these important matters of huge importance.

I had to look after an elderly relative near Ladbroke Grove a few years ago, during the carnival I was able to observe from a high window the excesses of defecation and urination that went on because people do not want to pay a quid to use the bogs. If the police allowed that to go ahead this year and then got onto analysing the CCTV footage we could clear the National debt...

It's how Notting Hill Carnival gets funded, nothing to pay to enter the streets but portaloos everywhere (even outside some of the pubs) and the quid a visit is collected by the community - I wouldn't like to have the job of auditing that process though.
