So it's either one of two things happening 16:27 - Feb 17 with 833 views | hype313 | Either Evans is going through a sale of the club and wants stability in the sale, or he is not willing to pay him off until he can do it cheaply. Could be a long few months in both scenarios.

So it's either one of two things happening on 17:08 - Feb 17 with 571 views | LankHenners | Re: the latter point it might not be money but a pride thing. He only gave him the 5 year deal a year ago and came out with an over-zealous public backing of him around Christmas, both times talking about how Lambert's here to oversee the 'long term project', and of course the recent backing had the infamous 'green shoots' line. He probably feels he'd look a prize plum if he got rid so soon after all that. If he holds off until we're truly dead in the water he might be able (in his mind) to save face a little with 'unfortunately our target to reach the playoffs wasn't met and therefore with sadness I had to let Paul go' etc. Hopefully he's selling up to that Bergkamp/Kuyt/Larsson/Koeman consortium that was sniffing round League 1 and the pure Dutchness of it is so powerful it propels us right up the leagues.
