One for the TWTD hive mind...
I'm currently in the process of clearing out my late uncle's bungalow, and it's an absolute trove of stuff that can be sold.
I'm doing okay selling some of the more ubiquitous stuff on Facebook etc., but there are a few items that seem like they'll need a more specialised approach.
Any tips on where I could look to in order to sell a trailer, trailer tent, workshop tools (pillar drill etc.,) and those sorts of things? I'd like to try and avoid an auction house if at all possible... |  |

Oh, I agree with that point of view. I've no concerns over the level of price I'll get at auction.
My issue (if we can call it that) is that I've got the time and inclination to manage the various sales myself, so I'd much rather not have to pay a commission if I can get the same sort of value elsewhere. | |

Auction house is the usual way in this situation
They sell it cheap to mateys who then take it to Car Boot....to sell it cheap
It depends how much of a hurry you are in
Auction house the whole shebang gets cleared in a couple of days
But if you have storage and can make the effort you might get a better price from eBay/Gumtree. Slight disadvantage is that you have load of random weirdos traipsing through your property
If their is very specialised and valuable stuff....pocket watches/art/Oriental ceramics then maybe seek out a specialist Auction House, eg Gardiner Houlgate near Bath for watches and guitars

Given the likely value of a second hand trailer, trailer tent, tools - am struggling to see beyond ebay tbh.
Maybe pick your timing for the trailer tent (Late spring / early summer) and get lots of decent photos of it up in all it's glory would be my tip. |  |

That's what I was thinking.
A cursory search suggests probably about £1,000 for the trailer tent, and £500 or so for the trailer. eBay seems to be the next step up from Facebook/Gumtree in terms of getting focused interest/exposure.
You're right on timing - I was prompted to ask on here when I realised we're just about to get into peak time for selling camping gear! | |
