People's expectations on new signings. 00:50 - May 6 with 1044 viewsOwainG1992

I'm interested in what sort of players expect to join.
A number of people seem to be suggesting journeymen who have had a good year in league one.
For me I want up and coming hungry players with 2 or 3 seasoned players. (Lee Evans Wigan/Max Power etc)
In terms of up and coming I feel like the Crewe wingers would be outstanding and the lad Rathbone from Rochdale.

Apologies loads of people will speculate but it is quite an exciting time to do so!

Poll: Apologies I'm bored. How many signings will we have by Plymouth at home.

I think we'll see at least a small core of players more than capable of playing in the league above, and will do what's required to attract them with expectation next season will be our last in this division.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
Poll: If someone promised you promotion next season, would you think

I agree with that. Let’s try and get away from the procession of has beens, throw outs and ageing one season wonders from the lower leagues. Also, I’d rule out ex-ITFC players who left as promising youngsters years ago. I get the nostalgia of it, but they’ve had their time here and gone on to what they perceived as better things so I’d avoid any of them.

I have no objection to the odd veteran and seasoned player, preferably lynchpin positions such as centre half or keeper (had we got Pat Jennings around 1976 we’d have won a couple of league titles), who has played at the top level and has something to give. However, the body of the team should be as you say up and coming, hungry players if at all possible.

Depends on the strategy, really - if we are just going to throw the kitchen sink at getting out of League One next year, without that much thought to long term planning, then we'll bring in Waghorn / Rhodes type players. The downside risk of that is that if it doesn't work, we then have to rebuild again for the next season - short-termism has been at the root of much of ITFC's failings during the Evans era, so will be interesting to see how the new owners approach it.

I have no source and this is not 'def info' but i have a feeling Lee Evans is nailed on to sign and will be one of the first announced possibly even next week

I'd be surprised if we don't see 2/3 ex-Cook players coming in. Leader type characters that he knows and trusts.

I think we'll get a fairly good idea of the budget we're working off pretty quickly once the season ends. I can see a few early signings for sure.

One things for certain, there won't be any players strolling about the pitch next season.
