Completely unrelated to all the transfer speculation... 13:24 - May 17 with 475 viewsOriginalMarkyP

...and maybe that's a good thing.

I was watching (in very poor YouTube quality) Maradona's second goal against England. And I was reminded that I always wondered...

...is it actually an own goal by Terry Butcher. Everytime I watch it, it looks like as Butch slides in he gets a touch.

Did anyone ever ask him? Or were they too scared to bring it up?

Definitely wasn’t an own goal (well in my opinion) but I think Butchers tackle ‘pushes’ Maradona into the ball so that the final touch is more powerful than what it would have been - not sure if I’m explaining that properly or not.

On a side note, it always makes me smile when people bring up the handball as evidence of DM of being a cheat when he never thought that it would be allowed. And glossing over Terry Fenwick (think it was him) smashing an elbow into DM face.

Maradona used to get smashed the whole game every game.

Some of the tackles on him during matches would get some serious punishments nowadays.
