Such a difference to Lambert, Hurst, and even in part Mick
Still a lot of question marks on the system and selection though, which hopefully will become clearer and more positive as partnerships form and the best 11 settles

In short:
1. Players were clearly better quality, especially Evans and Harper. KVY wasn’t living up to his quality second half. Burns and Fraser showed flashes of brilliance. Piggot horribly isolated. Morecombe had a good quality forward who had a festival amongst some centre back buffoonery. But this element of the model does not worry me.
2. I think Morecombe wanted it as much as us, and I think our team of strangers got a little overawed by the occasion and expectation. Quite a few of the attackers didn’t grab the game, move enough, show enough ‘adversity’ challenge. But the last minute equaliser with the desire of Bonne and Norwood.
3. The system and shape have question marks as stated, front 4 got isolated from defence and deep 2 deep midfielders, and no one was breaking the lines, BUT when things clicked there was a glimpse of the potential interplay Cook clearly wants… no better example than our first goal. We need partnerships to settle soon. | |
