The DM is the most important signing this transfer window 09:50 - Aug 30 with 590 views | Chrisd | Based on our performances so far in this league campaign, I would argue signing a defensive midfielder with pedigree and leadership is critical before this transfer window closes.

The DM is the most important signing this transfer window on 10:49 - Aug 30 with 443 views | SouperJim | While I don't disagree, we don't play anyone as a true holding midfielder, both Evans and Harper have been playing central. But we certainly are crying out for a midfield general who does the ugly stuff well and drags the rest of the team up when we're under pressure. We have such a soft underbelly at the moment.

Or, perhaps ... on 11:07 - Aug 30 with 385 views | Guthrum | ... we need to go back to an old-fashioned style of having centre-backs who concentrate purely upon defending (except when we win corners or very attacking free kicks)? Rather than messing about with this "ball-playing" stuff. Let the fullbacks and long kicks handle the linkup between 'keeper and midfield. This isn't the Prem, where everyone is Very Talented and you can do more fancy things. Just aim for maximum solidity from the last line of defence, utilising the players who can do that above all else. Then you don't need to worry about one or more of your midfielders having to do half the CBs' jobs for them.
