There again, people must know there is a volcano in the vicinity when they buy or rent. Or if they are born in the area they have the whole of their childhood and adolescence to figure out how to move a bit further away. Also applies to some coastlines in these days of rising sea levels.

I am reminded of the the comment by a US politician who was being harassed by people complaining their house built of on the mississippi flood plain had flooded simply replied 'It aint called a flood plan for nothing'
