Too pedestrian.

We seem to think we have all the time in the world to move the ball about, the whole time failing to realise that almost every team we face this season will have been told to get at us quickly and get a solid defensive shape when out of position.

Its not luck that we look at our most threatening when moving the ball quickly and stretching the play from side to side.

Thinking we're the best side in the league

Noticed this today more than any other time, there's a lot of playing it into tight positions and then the player trying to beat his man with trickery instead of moving the ball into space. By that time, the defending players have normally doubled up.

We, as per last season, seem to have no tactic to cope with teams putting 10 behind the ball in the defensive phase, nor how to cope with the press in the middle and final thirds. I really think we may need to go something like 4-1-2-1-2 until such time as we can get the confidence up.

I still think Cook will come good, (mainly based on the lack of alternative options), but the guy is so rigid and fixated on one formation, and he needs to acknowledge that it just isn't working the way he is used to.

On to Donny.

I really like the emboldening and underlining.
