The loan deals 09:57 - Dec 12 with 1026 views | Zx1988 | Bonnie's loan has a unilateral recall clause in QPR's favour in January, and it now seems to be the same for Walton and Brighton. I hope that this isn't the case for Celina too. I'm in two minds on this. I suppose, if it was the only way to get hold of such good-quality players, then it makes sense to have Walton and Bonne for a guaranteed half season rather than not at all. But, at the same time, was this always going to be problematic? If they play well which, broadly speaking, they have, then it's almost nailed on that their parent clubs will recall them in January in order to either use them or sell them. Sadly, I'm not convinced that we'd have a sniff of signing Walton permanently in January, and we'll be back to square 1 on the GK front. Would it have been better to get someone either on a permanent basis or, if it had to be a loan, get someone who we would be guaranteed to be able to keep for the whole season? Like I say, I can see pros and cons to either approach, but it just seems a little short-sighted of Ashton to have agreed to multiple loans on this basis.

Loans invariably have one sided recall deals, but those deals enable you to get a player you otherwise wouldn't have a hope of signing. Yes, you may lose the player in January, but often other quality players become available on loan in that window.

The loan deals on 11:20 - Dec 12 with 697 views | jayessess | Think realising any value on Walton is going to be more complicated than Brighton think, to be honest. They might be able to recall him, but in 6 months time his contract expires and he's a free agent. So come the Summer he can maximise his value. Anything a buying club spends on his transfer fee is money directly out of his pocket. So what possible motivation does he have to accept a transfer?

Exactly. Walton's only risk is that he gets injured in the 2nd half of the season. I suspect Brighton will only recall him if they have a buyer lined up, but Walton would have to agree to sign a deal at his new club. Can't think a Championship standard keeper with 6 months left on his contract would attract much of a fee.

The loan deals on 11:56 - Dec 12 with 568 views | FightingEssex | Let’s be honest if Walton, Bonne and Celina left next month we’ll still finish mid table either way, we can’t feel too much sadness for loan players really, we should be looking to use and develop our own. To be brutally honest the only Cook signings I would keep at this stage are Edmondson, Burns and Aluko. Chaplin at a push on a good day. The rest are pretty much standard League One fair, with Harper and Edwards being two of the worse signings we ever had. Let’s move on from this Paul Cook disaster as quickly as possible. I just hope we’ve not downgraded a Cook for a Harris because if so, assuming we don’t make progress in a year it’s going to be utterly destructive for this club.
