Spurs: Same story, different manager 21:32 - Jan 21 with 638 views | wkj | For all of the nonsense about Ashton floating around, we can at least be happy we're not facing the Spurs problem. Konte having to use the press to urge Levy to land his targets. With their new stadium, I just can't see the bottom line of Spurs being sustainable with the way Levy is doing business there. Meanwhile, Everton's owners have injected £100m into the team. There is a team that spends money like Derby - in a sense, lots of money put forward with nothing to show for it. I really hate what football has become. We were probably relegated in the worst season to be religated (ITV Digital renegging on what they were bidding for EFL rights) - Had we managed to stay up that season, everything would have been so different for many years to come.

Spurs: Same story, different manager on 21:39 - Jan 21 with 565 views | MattinLondon | Everton have earned the right to spend millions simply because they’ve been in the PL from the off. They’ve brought badly but they probably won’t go down. Football has become reliant on TV rights etc. it’s just a matter of fact and I can’t see it changing anytime soon. It’s easy to feel sorry for ourselves - what if we hadn’t gone down, what if this had happened, what if that had happened. It happened, then Evans and a load of jokers happened. Simply have to hope that the new owners and manager are good and get us out of this god awful division.

Always a game of what-ifs - though I honestly do think that season was the worst possible season to go down. Sheepshanks and many other teams were expecting a lot more money coming in before ITV digital broke their contract. Parachute payments were not in the mix, and of course, Financial Fairplay rules were not in effect. That said, we did deserve to go down according to the table, so there are limits to the self pity.
