Birmingham are the club the have been promoted to and relegated from the top flight the most. 12 times in total.

In the UK we call clubs like these yo-yo clubs. But not every nation uses the same term.

In many nations clubs like these are call elevator teams or lift teams. In Denmark, for example, they use the term elevatorhold

Some other nations also use toys to describe these type of clubs. In Poland, for example, they use the term wańka-wstańka, which means roly-poly-toy.

Norwich City would be considered an archetypal wańka-wstańka club, and haven't been in the same league as Fulham - another yo-yo club - since 2018.

Seems a shame to limit it to the top division when so many clubs have longer pieces of string. There’s been clubs like Burnley, Bristol City, Wolves, Sheff U etc who've plumbed the depths of division 4 - let alone those big clubs slumming it in division 3. It was a pity to see Luton fall just short of becoming the first to drop from the top division to non-league football and back again.
