If Wales beat Ukraine.... on 07:57 - Jun 2 with 776 views | LegendofthePhoenix | But if 2 players are called up for international duty, then you can postpone matches. My worry is that Burns was pulled off after 60 minutes yesterday to save him for Sunday. If he impresses again, there will surely be Premier clubs eyeing him up, they may be already. He has showed he is capable of playing at the highest level. The record transfer fee for a League 1 player was Fabian Delph in the 2009/10 season to Villa from Leeds (yes in L1) for £8.55M. I would not want to see Burns go for less than £10M - he is a big part of the solution to us getting out of League 1 next season.

Given that the World Cup last for a month & League 1 is sensibly carrying on, I cannot believe that a club would be allowed to or want to postpone a whole month of games because they had lost 2 players.

Yeah, this wouldn’t apply unfortunately as you would be cancelling games for as much as 6 weeks. Would worry me if we lost Burns for that length of time

Isn't it more than 2 players as well? There are no guarantees that Burns would be in the final Wales squad if they do qualify (although his current involvement would suggest it is very possible). I can't imagine any League 1 team will have more than 2 players at the World Cup and, if they do, I would expect most would be returning after the group stages.

With respect he hasn't shown he can play at the highest level though, has he? I also expect it would take half or even less of £10M for us to let him leave.

Rubbish we should be proud? Even if it cost us promotion in some way?

A 27 year old who has spent his career so far in the lower leagues. Yes, he was undoubtedly one of the best players in League 1 last season & would attract interest from Championship clubs - that's why we gave him a new contract. We don't need to sell & it's hard to see anyone offering more than around £1.5m.
