Anyone watching the opening ceremony? The Alexander Stadium looks fantastic. What a change to see lots of uncovered stands in the UK. It looks very Southern European, so I hope the weather holds!
I’ve not got a massive interest in all events (more than Nadine Dorris of course, as at least I remember Glasgow hosting in 2014). Swimming is my main interest, as we’ve 8 swimmers from Swansea (my kids swim for Swansea, but a bit too young for this). Dan Jervis and Alys Thomas are the stars, in case anyone’s interested. Both are Olympians (both lovely people too).
Anyway, good for Brum to host this. It’ll get eclipsed a bit by the early start to the footie season but I’ll try and watch what I can. |  |

I watched a bit of it, it looked quite impressive if very, err, random at times.
I was in Birmingham last weekend, nice seeing the signs and branding up for the Games, reminded me a bit of London just before the 2012 Olympics got going. I think it'll be a good event. |  |
