I think McKenna will probably apologise to Davis. It wasn't fair to throw him on there from the off, and his lack match time with us showed. I'm sure he'll be a good player for us but today was a game too soon. |  |

Reading McKenna's comments I can see the logic behind the decision making slightly more. He understandably wants to get Davis' match fitness and team mate understanding up but the U23 games are pretty pointless for first teamers and there are no friendlies left for building understanding. It makes more sense to have Leigh coming on from the bench because of his pace, stretching defences.
I still think it was the wrong decision but can understand what he was trying to do. | |

Regarding the cup game - unusually, not until we're two league matches in. Normally it's the first midweek but it's the second one this time around.
I agree, it was too much too soon, especially for a player who will be under the microscope due to the fee we paid for him. But I get McKenna's reasoning. | |
