But you know. I've got this strange satisfaction that we've had a couple of fixtures in our start that haven't been either amazing performance wise or like yesterday we made mistakes etc.
Reason being.
Lamberts league topping side got through games winnings without much happening it games. We didn't overly perform but there was a bit of a meh about everything. Against and for us. There didn't seem much to change other than do a bit better scoring wise.
In our first 6 games there have been some obvious areas of improvement needed. For me.. this gets us I'm a better position as we enter the closing week of the transfer window... but it also gives KM the early chance of improving things rather than having that feeling that all OK with how we doing.
Appreciate that's a bit of special way of looking at it... but I feel at ease with our start more so than at any time in league 1. Now for me.. that is something.
We have played some excellent stuff but it’s also an ambitious style to get right. So, the fact we’ve generally been very decent in all the games even with a new-look attack should bode well that we can improve.
And it’s a contrast to our good starts under Lambert where the performances themselves felt much streakier but we buried more chances than we should have expected. And didn’t get punished at the other end.
This season we’re getting the results we (and the opposition) more fully deserve.

We flattered to deceive early doors under Lambert. I thought that we were below par yesterday but our bar for what is par is now much higher, which is a huge positive. Yesterday was hugely frustrating but it was still entertaining. The reality is that we will not always get our just desserts from games but we’re definitely heading in the right direction
