As I was walking down to my village shop for a pint of milk. He was off on his bike somewhere, stops to pull up alongside me. Among other things he goes 'Towun doun well buh' and 'this koo and A last noit, did Mckinna say we're gorn up then or not?'.

I love the fact the piece of info he's waiting on is KM's confirmation, in early September, that we're going up. Hero. How nice is it to have this amount of engagement though, and people so enthusiastic about the club again after literally years and years of apathy.

Yes, there's a lot of dormant interest in the club which becomes obvious only at times. he 91-92 season showed that and then the sustained winning form of the late 90s really built on that. Since the mid-2000s it's just been little hints of resurgence in 14-15 and (briefly) when Hurst took over but neither of those two endured.

As an Ipswich fan from nowhere near Ipswich, I have always tried my best to indoctrinate my friends who for the most part support PL teams. I've taken so many of them to their first game, got them singing the blues and spreading the gospel and this year it finally seems to have paid off. I get multiple messages every weekend about how well we're doing now; Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, United and Liverpool fans begging for another taste of the Town. It's a great time to be a fan and I'm sure it will get some eye rolls from some, but I'm enjoying it far more than I have since I was a child.

I hope so, and lots to like at the moment. We need a promotion to demonstrate that though.

Never heard anyone in Suffolk use the phrase “me ol’ mucked”

Excellent scribing of the good old Suffolk accent Mr Baker. My gran spoke something like that. Lived in Stutton, off the beaten track down a cinder track.
