Anyone know why the trains from Peterborough to Doncaster and return on Saturday are all showing as sold out, on the Train Line app and LNER's app?

Surely they can't all be full for the whole day?

Massive demand for all services to & from London. Not helped by Sheffield - London having rail replacement Luton - Hitchin.

A few weeks ago, there was good availability Doncaster - London at reasonable cost.

Because the on-off strike action means they still haven’t finalised the timetable:

This is becoming very common on a lot of operators - Avanti are generally giving about a week’s notice for weekend travel.

Yeah, it's this. Although in Avanti's case there is a fair amount of incompetence too

The engineering works between Sheffield and London look to have been cancelled, if ticketing websites are to be believed. Still RRB Colchester - Ingatestone though...

That's handy, far easier going direct than via Doncaster (despite the bar on the platform there). Cheap tickets available too - £42.50 return.

I can avoid the Colchester - Ingatestone fun this time but next home match....

Go on Trainsplit. It's cheaper and gives you access to the trains which trainline say are sold out.

It's non-refundable so maybe hold off till friday on the small offchance the game is cancelled.

Train tickets bought....0758 from Ipswich via Peterborough and Doncaster.

Returning at 1811, hoping to get back into Ipswich at 2126.

Just over £60 for me and Junior... happy with that.
