How does that get overturned? Chaplin is clean through on goal and the defender clips his heels. Makes no odds to us but seems very random what the authorities do and don't overturn.

Town in 5 has a decent framerate, you can slow the footage down to 0.25x and it's still nearly impossible to tell. He's a fair way out, and heading slightly away from goal. Not saying he didn't clip him, but I can see why they might think otherwise based on the video.

I like to think he might have offered that information up at the time, in the circumstances, but who knows.
