How about that Swan dive the Fleetwood player did in our box 13:04 - Dec 3 with 1279 viewsurbanblue

The most pathetic attempt to win a Penalty I've ever seen. Should have been booked. In fact I don't remember for sure, but I think it was Batty in which case it was a second yellow and he should have walked.

In the 2nd half after Burgess tried to back heel the ball away? He slipped over.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Interesting ... I don't remember it like that at the time. Tempted to check the replay and have a look but not sure when it happened.

It was a different incident. The one where he slipped was the same side of the box as where Burgess had done his ridiculous back-heel.

The one I can recall that fits your description in the OP was on the near side and he appealed for a penalty. It looked a clear yellow. They had a couple got away with challenges worse than Burns'. How Rooney never saw red even before he tried manhandling Davis off the pitch I don't know. And the foul on Jackson in the box at the end was clear too (not that a penalty is a guaranteed goal at all). I thought the officials were poor. Even on the Davis substitution, they insisted he went off the end of the pitch where he was but then allowed Burns to walk across the whole pitch in the same substitution window. Of course, the extra time allowed worked out for them in the end.

Ah I can't recall that one but agree on the ref - said on another thread that yellow for Burns was the start of a poor game for him. When you do that as a ref you supposedly set a precedent for what is/isn't allowed but this clown let them put in some very heavy challenges where it was at best 50/50 whether they got the ball without even giving a foul.

Rooney himself put in at least one more challenge like the one he was booked for but got away with them. Must make it very difficult as a player as you have no idea what the threshold is for a foul or a yellow and don't want to get yourself in trouble unnecessarily.

I just checked cos I'm sad like that. The incident with Burgess that you referred to was a clear slip on 64 mins. The one I was referring to happened on 71 minutes and as described elsewhere on this thread was a blatent dive and appeal for a penalty. Couldn't see who the player was though.

Fair enough, can't remember it but maybe I'm in the process of blanking last night out!

I’ve never wanted a player to get his legs snapped before but I’d shed no tears for him. Could have done with a Roy Keane or a Vinnie Jones for one night only because I’ve never seen as big a cretin on a football pitch as Rooney last night.

He was very pumped up especially at the end. Not sure why the match mattered so much to him. I guess if you can get that level from a player every league match and the referee allows them to get away with nothing more than a yellow card you have done well.

He seems to think very highly of himself for someone who looks like a Sunday league footballer at best.

I remember saying to my son it was lucky where the ref was because if he was anywhere else he would have given a pen.
