According to Tim Vickery (the South American football expert), who I heard on the World Service a couple of days ago, Neymar did a campaign video for Bolsonaro. He also indicated that the wearing of the Brazilian shirt was particularly associated with Bolsonaro supporters.
Interestingly, very few footballers in this country seem to put their head above the parapet when it comes to politics. I know Bill Shankly and Alex Ferguson were Labour supporters, and I think the same was true of Pat Nevin. In more recent years, I suppose Gary Neville, Gary Lineker and Marcus Rashford have dipped their toes in matters political but it's difficult to think of many others. Perhaps many are just Tories, and keep their heads down.
Perhaps proving your point about footballers in this country ....
George Weah is president of Liberia. Romario is the senator for Rio. Pavyluchenko is a United Russia party councillor in Stavropol. Zico was once Brazil's Sports Minister. Grzegoz Lato was senator for Rzeszów. Oleh Blokhin has been previously elected to Ukraine's parliament. and
Sol Campbell joined the long list of Tory candidates to replace Johnson as mayor of London but didn't make the shortlist.

Quite few of the more high profile players in that squad are pro-Bolsonaro, especially the ones that play in the PL. The exception is Richarlison who is openly pro-Lula.
There's a bit more of an expectation in Brazil that sports stars and other notable personalities get more involved and opinionated with politics than there is here which is why it seems odd to us for a player to be so open about supporting a politician in such a way.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
