Apparentltly not, as
'The Observer reported that civil servants in the Cabinet Office’s propriety and ethics team had alerted Johnson to an HMRC “flag” over Zahawi before his appointment, but it had been ignored.'
Which begs the question of why did the bloater ignore this warning
Similaly what checks or due diligence did Sunak conduct into this matter before appointing Zahawi as Tory Party chairman. The thought must be that given it was all over the media last summer why make an appointment (Oct 2022) that could blow up in his face. As it now has.
Could it that Zahawi has some 'hold' over certain people ?
Perhaps to some this may well seem like a Tory with money (tax)
resting inhis account'. Others may say "well its the Tories, they are all the same, corrupt"
But in this case we have someone being appointed to one of the four senior offices of state, who has now not only been found attempting to evade tax, but was appointed when he was under investigation for that very evasion.
