This is certainly a brief one as there are only five clubs to get in 1 minute and 45 seconds.
The short-lived competition, perhaps better known as either the Simod Cup or the Zenith Data Systems (ZDS) Cup, ran for seven seasons from 1985 to 1992 following its creation as a result of the ban on English teams after Heysel. A couple of teams won it twice, and one of the other three actually went down to the Third Division in the same year and so was unable to compete and defend their title the following season.

Never heard of that cup before, 6/7 missing the 1987/88 one.
I presume like all cups we never did particularly well in this?
Looking at the records, we didn't enter in 85/86 - the year we were relegated - before losing to the eventual winners in the semi-finals the following season. In 87/88, we made it to the quarters before reaching the same stage in 88/89, again being knocked out by the team that went on to win at Wembley. We then lost in the Southern Area semi-finals in 89/90 before doing the same in 90/91. In its final staging, we were knocked out on penalties in the third round, although we obviously ended up winning promotion to the new Premier League at the end of that 91/92 season.
So, we weren't too shabby, particularly considering we were in the Second Division in each season that we entered! I didn't realise we had such a respectable record. I believe you had to win six matches to win the tournament and our overall record was 16 wins and six defeats.

Came very close to an all East Anglia final in the first year we entered. We lost to Blackburn and Nodge lost to Charlton in the semis.
Good memories of this competition. Beating Nodge in the run up to Xmas in 88, losing to an excellent Forest side in the next round. Some decent attendances too.
And let us not forget the 'Supa dupa David' game at Twerton and comical Luton pen shootout in '91.

Big turnout of about 18k for the game with the budgies just before Christmas 88. A good result as well as we were 2nd division and they were top flight. I believe we beat them 1-0 with a milts goal.
