Several years ago, I was working for a privately owned company. They brought in a new CEO and another director, 3 months later I got thoroughly shafted by them. They should have paid me off and got me to sign a NDA. But they didn't, hubris got in the way. I dragged them through the mud and they lost more than 50% of the value of the company. It was a lose-lose, but with hindsight it was very satisfying to see the bunch of psychopaths that were running the company lose half the value of their shares.

Poll: would you rather

I’ve used NDAs to protect patentable ideas and innovation. They have their benefits; we’ll, they do when people don’t try to circumnavigate them for personal gain, which has happened on several occasions.

Depends on the use, they are very handy in early stage contract negotiations. That said for the uses you mean I completely agree.
