Actually, being part of the 'gang world' is more likely to see you facing harm. However this one won't be.
Otherwise, awful human beings such as Steven Wright - 5 young women in Suffolk, Huntley - Soham, Yorkshire Ripper etc, would not all have survived prison unharmed (Sutcliffe now dead). It is not as made out, either. The prison service doesn't just bung everyone in together.
People like this will no doubt be on a maximum security wing, if not prison where they are among others of the same kind.
They do not put child killers etc where they can be harmed. Mainly because it leads to more work keeping an eye on them.
48 years is one helluva tariff. And although the conditions improve as the years pass, 48 years is the minimum. Not even considered for parole until then.
Despite nutty claims from the rightwing press these sentences do not act as a deterrent. They can only serve as a way to keep killers like this away from society. The protection of the rest of us comes first.
And i suspect that unless you are his age, or there about, you will not witness his release. I wonder how long that will take to sink in, 48 years. | | | |
