This popped up on YouTube for me, and it brings back fond memories for me, despite me not being at the game. This was the first time I can recall watching the highlights as well as I'm pretty sure I was in the pub that night enjoying myself, so missed MOTD.
I was 18 when this game took place and I had a mate that that was a Man United fan (it could have been worse, the rest of his family were/are Norwich supporters). We had a £5 bet with each other on who would win, each of us backing our respective teams.
It occurred to me at the time that I might get better value for my 5 quid bet at the bookies, as I was pretty sure town would be far from favourites to win. So I suggested we go to our local bookies and instead of betting each other, bet against Saxmundham bookmakers instead.
So off we went for a short drive Sax bookies and went to put our bets on our respective teams..........only to find out the sax bookies didn't do football bets!
I have no idea why, but in that smoke filled betting shop I started looking at the races pinned up on the wall and one horse in one race caught my eye. I had heard of this horse before, as half the local area (it seemed) had backed it at 40 /1 a few months earlier when it had romped to victory. It was called Sibton Abbey. On a whim, I put £4 each way on the horse and my mate copied me and did the same.
We then went back to my mate's house and watched Sibton Abbey win at 16/1. Then we listened to the radio and listened to Ipswich win 2-1.
It was a good day.

Another piece of youtube gold uploaded a few days back - full Ipswich Roma from 1982.
Thing that stood out for me was the Anglia TV camera work at around the 57:04 mark during half time as the golden goal ticket girls walked the touchline to catwhistles. 'Intrusive' is putting it mildly, camera man would be cancelled for that these days!

The night before this match the Man U team stayed at the Belstead Brook Hotel. Ferguson had them training in the evening on Ellenbrook playing field (in the depths of chantry, or Belstead Hills if you pretended to be posh), where the goalposts basically sat at 45 degrees! An 11 year old me and a few mates watched Cantona, Giggs etc going through their paces! Parents didn’t believe us when we got in!!

Brilliant! That was our playground in the early 70’s.

Those nets often pop up on the ‘goal nets and stanchions’ FB page! The season before they had a lovely sag, the Newcastle game seeing some great ‘nettage’

Excellent team, fantastic era, and admirable precision in the timestamp!

Just watched the first half - big thanks for the link. Noticeable how 'enthusiastic' Sir Terrence of Butcher was in the tackle. Does anyone who was around at the time know if there was any needle from the first leg?
Also noticeable what a fluid shape we had as a team then, very hard to define, with at least four players popping up all over the place. Sir Bobby really was ahead of his time wasn't he?

They are lucky it didn’t clash with Grasshoppers training night down there, would have been a hell of a stand off
