Were the links to him earlier in the summer credible? I see he has failed to agree terms with Luton.

Interesting but I would think we could not match the terms Luton were offering?

Think he'd be an ideal signing, but the fact that he has failed to agree terms with a Premiership club isn't promising.

Maybe Luton weren't making any promises about game time, something we may also struggle to offer.

Luton appear to be preparing a squad with a view to being relegated and the contracts they're offering are likely to reflect that. A season of not particularly high Premier league wages with a hefty relegation clause knowing that you're likely to be getting pumped every week might not be the most attractive offer.

I can't imagine any club ever makes any guarantees about game time. It would be interesting to know what sort of wage structure Luton have and what relegation clauses they include. Maybe that and a potential release clause fee were sticking points. Would we be able to offer something that was more appealing in the longer term?

With his injury record, I imagine length of contract could perhaps be an issue too. Giving him a 3 year deal represents quite a risk.
