Helping the Kids Foundation 09:38 - Sep 14 with 418 viewsKeno

At the Forum last night mention was made of funding disadvantaged kids so that they can attend Foundation events. Mark Ashton said it was something the club was aware of, would look to help and it's something they are looking into.

This got me thinking as to whether as a group of Town fans we could contribute in some way to help the club help Kids who want to get involved with ITFC

Can you let me know whether you want or be able to contribute towards something like this and depending on the feedback I'll see what the best way of doing this

Thanks in advance

The best way would be for Town to prioritise putting sessions on at schools which serve the most deprived wards in Ipswich or wider Suffolk. Schools would have awareness of those children and young people who need help to participate in school trips and extra-curricular activities. If the Foundation (and/or the schools) could help to subsidise or pay for kit for those joining in, that would eliminate one barrier.

From there, once relationships are built, it would be more straightforward to bring the children and young people to Playford Road or Portman Road.

Starting off with sessions at ITFC bases creates logistical problems at the outset, as well as posing a Child Protection headache.

No real thoughts on the best way forward - but would be great for Twtd to organise something.

Sure Phil and others would get behind an appropriate initiative.
