Did we miss Evans last night? 09:09 - Nov 2 with 1009 viewsDarth_Koont

Probably not in real terms as I expect we’d just have lost in a different way. But certainly felt that when our passing game was so stuttery that we could have done with a specialist who could play the simple passes better but also put balls into space and cross-field. Rather than us trying to pass through the lines which is the default approach we struggled with last night.

But I think in January there’s an argument for us to target better ball-playing options in the middle. Ideally who can win it and keep it under pressure as well as Morsy and Luongo too, but really to give us another dimension when needed.

The biggest issue we have is IF Morsy gets injured, we don't have another midfielder who knows how to be facing his own goal when receiving the ball and being able to strongly get past his man to begin attacks.

a niche perspective

Excellent point, how easily we forget a player when they are out long term. As well as the simple, almost unnoticed passes, I think Evans is an important Captain who transfers McKemma's instructions to the rest of the team as they were laid out before the start of play and by ongoing communication with the technical area during the game.

Yes I do tend to agree , some tough decisions to be made in January. Think perhaps Aluco and Evans could be moved on to free up squad places to remedy this .

Aluko won't be moved on, think the club sees him as a future coach.

However he could be unregistered from the squad. Don't really see the point of having him registered at all, has he even once made the bench in the league this season?

I thought Luongo did well at that in the latter part of the Huddersfield game. He was dropping back to pick the ball up from defence, and like Morsy the ball just sticks to his feet. I think he can cover allowing Taylor to play more advanced - pleased to see him get an assist last night (following his worldie against Wolves).

I miss Marcus Evans - like when a bad headache disappears.
