Shout out to Marcus Harness... 17:22 - Sep 27 with 1359 views | BigCommon | Didn't realise that he got all three assists last night.. That's an incredible contribution on top of his usual workrate and link up play. Gets a bit of stick at times. But credit where credit is due for last nights contribution.

I think the one he is referring to is the average rating given by fans on here. University of Suffolk one was awarded to Taylor at the game. I wondered was that chosen by their students or by whom!

He looked like a pwopa player last night - ran the show at times. I wonder why we don’t always see that? He seemed to have much more freedom last night and used the space really well. He probably doesn’t have the same options for being as advanced and linking play when Chappers is on. I don’t know whether that’s got something to do with it.

Think he shines more when the game is more open. He has an eye for those little angled gaps to pass through or run into.. The games hes struggled most in, are when there is limited space to exploit. His touch can let him down a bit in really tight spaces where hes closed down automatically. On his highlights reel from Pompey, a lot of his best moments came from the inside right position, almost playing on the shoulder of defenders and darting through... Cheltenham last season, tiny pitch with a team that closed us well was an example of a match that just didnt really suit him.. We havent really been playing him in his favoured position. Hes had a lot of time on the inside left for us... He soldiers on, tries hard, gives energy. But needs to improve in tight spaces, imo.... Heck of a performance last night, in the type of game that really suited him..

It's great that we have so many players who can contribute, especially those like Harness who are not nailed on in the first 11, and he deserves a lot more credit than he is getting. Having said that, the Taylor goal was conjured up by Taylor - I'm not sure Harness really made it. But yeah, a hat trick of goals will often contain one which goes in off your knee, so they all count. Great contribution against a decent side, and the more of our fringe players that have confidence, happiness and buy-in, the better. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Depends what people see. Some might say he assisted 3 but didn't have a good game other than that ( I disagree) But similar to burns most weeks being called on fire etc despite doing fluffing everything. Or Jackson when he can be the best player on the pitch but gets an average of 6 because he's not burns. Basically don't take much notice of fan ratings.
