And for some reason I find myself thinking of Paul Anderson. I think he’s one of very few from the dark days (Keane - Cook) who would be quite suited to McKenna’s team.
Not the best player but athletic and willing to run and run with a decent product very much like Burns.
Got me thinking who else can you guys see from that period that would also have done ok? walters or Murphy possibly if they pressed like Hirst

You'd have peak Walters and Murphy in any team in this league.

Cresswell too obviously.

Wasn’t there a goal he scored and someone watching at home jumped up and put his head through the ceiling, think it made the news and think the jumpee was on here at one point.

If that is so, then even more so for Play Off Season Stephen Hunt.

An unstoppable pressing machine, with Chaplin-like life and soul of the team energy.

He was my favourite player of recent years until the current squad came along.

Imagine if McKenna had been able to shape the development of players like Dean Bowditch, Liam Trotter and Billy Clarke from that era.

He might have even convinced Jordan Rhodes to broaden his horizons beyond goal hanging, too, which no other manager was able to do!

You look at the likes of Wickham, Bishop and even the likes of Carson and Hyam and it would have been fascinating to see what would have become of them.

I think I blocked a lot of that period out looking at some of these names you’ve all mentioned, it would of been interesting to see trotter and hyam under McKenna and see where they could’ve gone career wise as they were both very talented

I believe it was against Norwich Anderson scored in the playoff year? If I remember correctly PA offered to pay for the damage
