Tough game today… players and fans will need to be on it 08:33 - Oct 28 with 1929 viewsunstableblue

Plymouth have good players, been weaker away from home but they’ve drawn their last two away at West Brom and Hull. With 3-0 and 6-2 home wins against the hapless Owls and Norwich.

Whittaker is class, as is Mumba, and the likes of Scarr.

Their manager will think he’s got our number and will want to improve away form. His pre-match sentiment that his team will have to (and can) play at their best to get a result.

Big chance for Hutchison to shine at home and for Hirst and Chappers to get on the scoresheet.

Wonder if Taylor could sneak a start. Doubt it. Fulham cup game will definitely see Ladapos, Harness, Fridge, Taylor et al get their much wanted starts. But think the bench is also going to be important against the Pilgrims today.

McKenna has called on us fans to do our bit, and hopefully we can raise the roof and fire the blue boys up. I’ll go 3-1 Chaplin.

This is going to be a tight one – they've improved defensively of late and I think McKenna will want us not to be shipping as many at home. Then there's the possibility of a reversion to last season's nip and tuck between these two sides. Hirst, Broadhead etc weren't playing when we last met them but then nor was Whittaker. Expecting tension and hopefully we edge it.

Side note – he'd better not score a meaningful goal but I'll be thrilled to see Mustapha Bundu, the Plymouth forward, playing at Portman Road. Scored a cracking free-kick vs Wednesday and will be very dangerous. Eleven years ago I saw him play at his academy on a pitch 45 minutes outside Freetown, Sierra Leone, and while he was a very obvious talent I couldn't have said he'd do this well because the odds are so long for kids from these places. One of his coaches at the time, a pretty influential guy in his development, is a Town fan too. Delightful boy and a real success story to see him here.

That’s a great story, he’s had quite the journey since then for sure.

Don’t forget we didn’t have Massimo or Brandon Williams in those games either, so arguably our four best players not playing. I’m expecting a really fast start and intense pressure, hopefully lots of goals with Burgess leading a strong back line. Can’t wait.

Despite a good result and being in control for an hour of the game something was slightly amiss on Wednesday. Another game so soon might cure that rustiness but different opponents and different tactics (without changing McKenna's ethos of course) can be expected, which will mean a different starting eleven if the hint in the press conference is anything to go by. McKenna has already introduced Edmundson out of the blue for one game this season and Taylor's cameo against Bristol City did no harm at all so I can see him starting today, especially as he will know Plymouth from games with Peterborough against them last season.

Also, we have heard that Tuanzebe is near ready but is Premier League Fulham the right game for him ? I am not saying it is likely but I would not be altogether surprised to see him play a part today.

Great story, thanks.

I imagine Sierra Leone is quite an experience.

We should edge it today. But think Plymouth are building this up as a chance to really improve away form and get one over on us. Should be a good match.

Think Axel could come in Weds, especially if Baggot is still carrying an injury

Do think someone like a Taylor, a Clarke, a Harness or an Edmundson might sneak into the starting 11 today.

Really looking forward to today, though I find myself saying that every week now.
The Evans years were surely some retribution for some past life misdemeanours!
I think Plymouth have had a slow start and by all accounts play better football than their league position suggests. KM will have done his homework.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Personally I think if Town play like they did v Hull this will be a comfortable win. Apart from whitaker Plymouth same side as last Yr where they sneaked a point in the 93rd minute.
Whilst Town have outfield players
Williams, Llungo, Broadhead and Hirst who never started last January I only see this going one way.

Easy wins for Leeds and Leicester today so vital we don’t lose. It’ll be tricky.

And Saints quickly 2-0 up over Rooney’s clown show. Again, this would not be a good day to drop points.

I’ve got a bad feeling for this one! Bit of a bogey team, not won away all season, mumba and Whittaker. Just screams banana skin to me!

Hope I’m wrong, and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time!!
