Merry Christmas from the house of hoppy, KJ and Yasmin 12:51 - Dec 25 with 1032 viewshoppy

For those that have known me a while, or have read my ramblings before, will probably know where I’m writing from at this time. A time of reflection and quiet, added with a few tears, as per usual, on my Christmas Day visit for a bit of father and son time at the cemetery.

So far today, I’ve been blessed to have had messages from friends, we’ve spoken to both of KJ’s 2 boys - not necessarily prompted by my message to them slightly earlier (we hope they have a happy day today, as they’re both Leicester fans, would rather their enjoyment is just contained rather than extending into tomorrow!), spoken with my parents, have made contact and spoken to my son’s voicemail… and of course had the fun of seeing Yasmin opening her presents, before I headed to the cemetery.
I usually seem to make it about this time of day, yet this time I came to the cemetery empty handed… not even any flowers. I felt bad. I’m sure CT won’t have minded, but I found myself looking at all the other freshly filled vases, and those laid down, and I promised him I would rectify that tomorrow. It doesn’t mean there’s any less love - I was late doing everything this year and just ran out of time to get some.

As usual, there’s a wide range of people here, and whether they’re visiting grandparents, parents, siblings, or like myself, their own children, taking that time out of a busy day is something important to them, and one that I always value, the time to be still, utter quietly spoken words to a son who never knew my voice and still wouldn’t be able to hear them - he’d have been 8.5 yrs old now, and always loved.

I’ve just read the post from Warky, so my sincere condolences to you for your loss - it must be hard, but hope you can still have a good day with your dad.

Sorry, I never get the hang of this not rambling thing, so will stop now as we’re due down the pub, and then on with the rest of the day.. have yourselves a very merry Christmas and make the most of your loved ones while you can, and if anyone is alone, or struggling, as always, please do drop a pm if you want to - always happy to chat - just don’t struggle alone.

Merry Christmas. One and all.

No need to feel bad buh. CT couldn’t have had had a better dad if things had worked out better. Your love for your family shines through.

I hope you and yours have a good one. A time to remember loved ones lost, but also a time to enjoy and feel grateful for what we have.
